Finding New Business Idea In Cross Culture Living
I’m English and was a Brazilian woman married for 25 years. I remember how we had both a culture shock when trying to understand each other in the early days of our relationship. For example, I do not think he is grateful for certain things, like dinner out, because he does not say “thank you”. I’ve learned that they are mandatory. Instead, it is me with a thoughtful gift as a way to surprise my gratitude. The journey is more real and thoughtful. Landmine automated, but still important in my culture.
That’s a lot of risk in cross-cultural exchange. We can see the world through our own cultural “lens” and make assumptions and judgments on our own experiences and education based.
